The introduction will describe the purpose of the session as well as introduce the panelists.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to

• Describe the Spirit of 1848 Caucus and its rationale for focusing on the politics of public health data.
• Articulate some of the key questions & challenges for research on social disparities in health.
• Articulate why it is important to conduct this research considering diverse dimensions of social inequality, singly and combined.
