This session will discuss the latest developments in the U.S Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) efforts to combat the most costly chronic diseases the nation faces today-obesity, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, > stroke, and cancer Panelists will update the participants on the Department's Steps to a HealthierUS initiative and highlight local and community disease prevention and health promotion efforts. The moderator > will provide an overview of the full range of HHS prevention activities, including the Steps to a HealthierUS community grants program, the HHS > Secretary's Innovation in Prevention awards, with panelists addressing the Diabetes Detection Initiative, the Healthy Lifestyles & Disease Prevention campaign, and AOA's You Can! campaign.
