Transgender Health
Current issues in transgender health will be addressed. Topics addressed in this session include: potential techniques for measuring the transgender population; an examination of the development of FTM youth; improving healthcare delivery for transgender individuals; and designing transgender care training for public health professionals.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: •Identify potential ways to measure and describe the transgender population, •Describe the developmental experiences of FTM transgender youth. •Articulate the healthcare needs of transgender individuals. •Describe ways to improve the delivery of healthcare for transgender individuals. •Identify the training needs for public health professionals working with transgender populations. •Design appropriate curriculum to teach public health professionals to provide appropriate HIV prevention to transgender populations.
