Women's Health: Women and Their Environments - Work, Home and Community
The aims of this session are to examine (1) the aggregate-and individual-level correlates of mental and physical health and (2) public health initiatives that can improve the health and work environments of women in the U.S. Populations of special interest are pregnant and postpartum women, employed women, and low-income women.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify salient neighborhood- and individual-level socioeconomic variables associated with mental and physical health. 2. Understand the mental and physical health concerns of women postpartum. 3. Describe the elements of programs intended to improve women's health care access. 4. Understand how employment influences the health of recent mothers. 5. Gain knowledge about analytic techniques to describe environmental influences on maternal mental health. 6. Understand the correlation between maternal and child health among low-income women.
