Service Delivery and Integrated Care
This session focuses on the complexities of the health and mental health service delivery and programs that integrate care. A collaborative program model is presented in which law enforcement and mental health professionals effectively address issues related to individuals with mental illness interacting with law enforcement. A study of the impact of the personal responsibility Act of 1996 on Asian immigrants and refugees is presented. Another presentation focuses on organizational strateies for implementing policies and procedures to protect workers from domestic violence occurring 'on-the-job'. It also provides information about social worker roles in community health centers, specifically physician and administrator perceptions of the social workers' role in providing psychosocial sesrvices. Finally, the training and role of nurse social work practitioner is discussed.
Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to identify the roles social workers play in helping health care teams and patiens in neighborhood health centers, as well as understand the importance of outcomes studies and cost-effictiveness in overcoming reimbursement barriers. Attendees will know how to provide strategies to improve the healthcare systems response to domestic violence. Attendees will know how to engage mental health and law enforcement professions in collaboration programs. Attendees will understand the complex factors and articulate a community process for increased accessibility of mental health services for Asian immigrants and refugees. Attendees will understand curriculum and job issues related to the nurse social work practitioner role.
