Healthy People 2010 calls for increasing the proportion of States that have service systems for children with special health care needs (CSHCN); and the national agenda for CSHCN focus on improving access to a medical home; promoting meaningful family participation in medical decision making and policy development; implementing early and continuous screening; making systems easy to use; increasing availability of public and private health insurance, and facilitating transition of youth to adulthood.
