The Environmental and Health Effects of War in the New Millenium
This session will provide a summary of environmental effects of war and the preparations for war and nuclear conflict, and will then provide an update on the effects of the war in Iraq on health and on the environment there.
Learning Objectives: On completion of the session, participants will be able to: 1) describe the main environmental effects of war and preparations for war, including the use and proliferation of nuclear weapons and depleted uranium; 2) summarize the current health and health services situation in Iraq; and 3) describe the known environmental and health effects of the war in Iraq to date, and the response needed to address them.
