This session will provide an overview of different techniques that have been implemented to improve safe motherhood and infant and child health throughout the world. Interventions in labor management, postpartum hemorrhage, postpartum infection, traditional birth attendant training and preterm birthweight techniques will be addressed. | |||
Learning Objectives: On completion of the session, participants will be able to: 1) understand the leading cause of maternal mortality-postpartum hemorrhage; 2) recognize the importance of NCPAP as a less invasive modality of respiratory therapy; 3) understand how feasible interventions can help reduce postpartum infection and its associated mortality; 4) identify key issues with increasing access to skilled attendants and liking traditional birth attendants to the biomedical system; and 5) recognize the importance of active management of the third stage of labor. | |||
