Environmental health issues have never been limited by borders or geographical boundaries. In an era of increasing globalization this is now truer than ever. This session will provide a 21st century perspective on critical global environmental health concerns. An overview of international children’s environmental health issues will be presented, including health problems related to pollution, war and conflict, lead, and other toxins. The panel will also provide a focus on health outcomes of global climate and ecological change, including reemerging disease, e.g., malaria and cholera. A multi-dimensional approach to predicting and thereby preventing global environmental health problems will be discussed. In addition to traditional epidemiology, this endeavor includes integration of climatologic, climatological, ecological, and social/behavioral data and methods. | |||
