Chemonics International is a global consulting firm promoting economic growth and higher living standards in developing countries. Since our founding in 1975, we have designed, managed, and evaluated complex, multidisciplinary development projects in 137 countries. Today, Chemonics' International Health Group is working to develop more effective health programs that help countries and organizations severely impacted by health issues.
Strong and healthy populations are key to economic growth. But growth in many emerging-market countries is compromised by disease, poor family planning, and inadequate services.
HIV and AIDS are robbing businesses and governments of workers in their prime, producing a generation of orphans whose economic future is bleak. The number of people needing reproductive health services has doubled in the last decade, creating enormous need for better, more accessible services.
These and other health issues challenge the economic prospects of people and cultures everywhere. Fortunately, donors and private groups are responding, funding major initiatives to address both the causes and the effects of health problems.
But resources alone won't do the job. Experience and innovation are needed to meet the challenge. Chemonics is applying its core competencies and introducing new leadership to tackle the issues. To do this, we are relying on proven strategies that:
• Strengthen the private sector to meet critical public needs.
• Streamline infrastructure to deliver services.
• Oversee and manage complex grant programs that put money where it is needed.
• Stimulate policy reform and decentralization.
• Build public-private partnerships for new countrywide, integrated programs.
• Leverage technology and the Internet to support education, behavior change, and service delivery.
• Recover costs so that programs are sustained over time.
We achieve results by applying techniques unique to the private sector. Chemonics' record in bringing experts together, packaging solutions, and delivering assistance is unsurpassed in the development field.
