Research suggests that MDMA can cause serotonin depletion as well as serotonergic neurodegradation that may result in depression among users of the drug. This longitudinal study uses the latest version of the BDI to assess current depressive symptomatology among a community sample of young adult MDMA users (n=402). The BDI was administered at baseline and again one year later. Multivariate analysis was used to identify sociodemographic and drug use variables associated with changes in BDI scores as well as transitions between diagnostic categories.
