Abstract #102756

AlcoholScreening.org: Successfully influencing behavior through the web

Carol Girard, MA, Boston University School of Public Health, Join Together, 1 Appleton Street, 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02116, 617-437-1500, carol@jointogether.org

AlcoholScreening.org is proving that screening and brief interventions for alcohol use disorders does work through the web. This site is a modified version of the AUDIT (alcohol use disorders identification test) that provides individualized feedback based on the user's answers to 13 questions.

A recent study shows that, through AlcoholScreening.org, users do take the appropriate next steps respective to what their drinking severity level is. This presentation expains what those "next steps" are why they are important in prevention.

Recent changes have made AlcoholScreening.org a valid screening tool for youth 14-17 years of age, whereas previously the site was only valid for users 18+.
