Consumers looking for public health information from an organization typically find there are numerous phone numbers, Web sites, and contact points each offering a different piece of the information they are looking for. As providers of this information we need to simplify how consumers find us, ensure they receive accurate information that is consistent across delivery channel (Web, phone, email, fax, and print), and is usable by them. To address these challenges, several organizations have initiated programs to provide the general public, media, and health care professionals with a single point of contact with the agency. By calling one toll free phone number consumers can receive accurate, consistent information, tailored for their needs.

Based on real-life examples, we will review the challenges associated with integrating public health information from multiple programs, how to reformat content so it addresses different audiences, and how to leverage information technology to locate and deliver the information to program staff and consumers.
