People with mobility limitations (PWML) often experience changes in participating in major life activities as a result of their physical limitations and the barriers encountered in their environment. During a three-year project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Disability and Health a dynamic measurement system was developed that assesses participation and environmental factors. This dynamic measurement system consists of two surveys: the Participation Survey for people with mobility limitations (PARTS/M) and the Facilitators and Barriers Survey for people with mobility limitations (FABS/M). Each domain of PARTS/M specifically relates to the activity/participation (d) domains of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. The PARTS/M is useful for examining the participation of PWML in their lived environments while using their available assitive technology and personal assistance. The FABS/M provides an overview of barriers and facilitators in the environments visited by PWML. A purposive sample of over 600 individuals with mobility limitations completed the surveys. This poster will specifically report test retest reliability and internal consistency statistics per domain. The scoring process for the measurement system will be described. Paper, electronic copies and web access to the surveys, instructions on how they should be administrated and data analysis techniques will be available at the poster session.
