Legislative activity is often a good barometer of public sentiment. Gauging from the amount of state policy action on environmental health issues, the public is becoming more interested and concerned. From air quality to asthma and from mold to mercury; this session explores the trends and challenges facing state legislatures when it comes to protecting the public from environmental threats.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the types of policies that are currently important to state legislators and why.
• Name at least 3 important environmental health policy topics in the states for 2005.
• Discuss state environmental health priorities with policymakers while maintaining a context that policymakers understand.
