Objective: To determine the association between community social capital (CSC) and eating five or more fruits and/or vegetables per day.
Data Sources: 2000 National Health Interview Survey, 2000 American Chamber of Commerce Researchers Association (ACCRA) Cost of Living Reports, 1999 County Business Patterns.
Study Design: We estimate a logit model to estimate the probability of individuals eating five or more fruits and vegetables per day. We control for the prices of fruits and vegetables, the cost of living, family income, sex, age, race/ethnicity, and education.
Findings: We find a strong positive association between CSC and eating five or more fruits and vegetables per day.
