The recently-published, “Solutions to Community Alcohol Problems” aims to help national, state and local community leaders increase their understanding of environmental prevention: its key strategies, its effectiveness and its benefits to individuals, families and communities. The short booklet uses real world success stories and engaging illustrations to bring the concepts to life and will help elected officials, foundation leaders, public health practitioners, and community advocates better understand how they can support communities in putting environmental prevention strategies into action.
The idea for such a road map was born in the spring of 2004. The Marin Institute convened experts from across the United States to examine the "state of the art" in environmental prevention. They discussed the latest thinking on environmental approaches to reducing alcohol problems as well as strategies for raising awareness of the critical role environmental prevention can play in creating healthier, safer and stronger communities.
