The discussant presentation will critically consider key points raised in the session presentations regarding the politics of public health data, especially as related to: (a) current debates over "evidence-based" approaches to public health, and (b) links between social justice & public health.

• describe the importance of consider how politics shapes evidence and also the interpretation of evidence
