Public health scientists, practitioners, and policy makers need evidence-based compendiums to create, implement, evaluate, and improve interventions, programs, and policies. The American Journal of Public Health (Journal) is a forum that highlights various forms of evidence from research and practice initiatives. This joint session hosted by the Editorial Team and Editorial Board will feature experienced Journal editors and authors with diverse expertise who can offer explicit guidance on publishing in evidence-based formats, notably the Research and Practice section consisting of articles and briefs. Emphasis will be placed on: 1) using real data from real public health work; 2) bringing various forms of evidence into the Journal's pages; and 3) using the Research and Practice papers published in the Journal to inform evidence-based decisions. Ensuring that rigorous, evidence-based papers from a variety of disciplines using diverse methods appear regularly in the Journal is crucial for disseminating timely intervention and research findings in a forum that is highly revered by peers, policymakers, and the larger public. We will examine how to present evidence in a variety of written and visual forms, including the use of images and we will feature a small exhibition of former Journal covers.
