This session is intended to expose APHA members to the possibilities of publishing with APHA. It complements other sessions such as publishing with the American Journal of Public Health. The session will have a panel of members of the Publications Board of the APHA. The panel will discuss:

- Publishing research in monograph or book form - Writing for a Public Health audience - Strategies for successful book proposal to APHA - Benefits of publishing with APHA press

We will explain the process of developing a proposal; writing according to APHA priorities; receiving competitive compensation (royalties or honoraria) if accepted for APHA publication.

There will be time allotted for audience members to bring up specific ideas for publication, as well as queries about the process of publication. We will also be distributing copies of the APHA publication prospectus with instructions, and the latest Publications Catalog with recent books published by APHA member-authors.

Potential attendees are encouraged to send their ideas/questions to us ahead of time.

Learning Objectives:

• - We will discuss how to publish research in monograph or book form
• - Provide an overview of how to write for a Public Health audience
• - Review strategies for a successful book proposal to APHA
• - Provide an opprtunity to talk with members of the APHA Publications Board as well as with authors published by APHA press
