The Jewish American Medical Project (JAMP) represents an effort to advance the movement toward peace and justice in the Middle East through medical, public health, labor, and human rights assistance, educational exchange, and outreach to the U.S. public. JAMP is sponsored by several organizations within the U.S. Jewish peace movement, and partners primarily with the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-Israel). JAMP sponsors delegations whose members work with their counterparts in the Occupied Territories and within Israel, including providing patient care at fixed and mobile clinics in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem; teaching at hospitals affiliated with the medical school at Al Quds University; working with labor unions and human rights organizations; and joining in efforts seeking environmental justice. On their return, delegation members share their experiences in a broad range of settings, including medical centers, universities, religious congregations, congressional offices, the medical press, and media outlets. JAMP also brings representatives from its partner organizations to the U.S. to offer their insight to the widest possible audience. JAMP has helped to promote an exchange of medical students between Al Quds University and U.S. medical schools. Participation of those who work or study in the fields of health, human rights, labor, or environment and who support the principles of the sponsoring organizations, is welcomed. JAMP's activities may be reviewed at www.vopj.org/jamp.htm
