Policy, Practice, and Promotion: The National Perspective

USDA/FNS has the responsibility of providing leadership for the implementation of the local school wellness policy as required by Section 204 of Public Law 108-265, of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004. To carryout this leadership role and to ensure timely implementation, USDA/FNS has established a workgroup consisting of representative from DHHS/CDC and the Department of Education to provide local education agencies and others with information and technical assistance. This presentation will outline what the law requires and actions that are being taken at the national level to support implementation.
