This session examines the role of political context and location in addressing health issues in vulnerable refugee and immigrant communities. Papers will discuss a variety of issues including the assessment of torture claims, the impact of 9/11, and critical health care issues for refugee and immigrant communities in international settings. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. recognize the influence of political context on the health of refugee and immigrant populations; 2. identify critical health services that should be available in humantarian emergencies; 3. describe the ways in which security and political issues affect health and well-being of refugee and immigrant populations. ways to address political context in the implementation of health services and programs. | |||
