Medicare Modernization Act: Implementing and Improving the 2006 Prescription Drug Benefit
Medicare Part D, the prescription drug benefit enacted in the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA), begins in January 2006, and beneficiaries will soon begin the enrollment process. Speakers will discuss the Medicare prescription drug benefit, the current status of its implementation, and issues such as who it will help, who it will hurt, and problems for the dual eligibles, as well as recommendations for improving the MMA. In addition, panelists will discuss unmet health care needs of the older population, including access to long-term care and other services Medicare does not cover. Speakers will include Congressional staff and policy experts.
