This session brings together some of the nation's leading authorities on health law and patient safety policy to discuss the legal, ethical, clinical, economic and political components of injuries arising out of the delivery of health services. Through their discussion of the current medical liability reform debate and the drive to improve patient safety, attendees will gain a greater understanding of the progress made and opportunities missed in the five years since the publication of the landmark report, To Err Is Human, and the future of patient safety efforts in the United States. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Analyze the legal, political and ethical underpinnings of medical liability reform and patient safety efforts; 2. Discuss analysis of significant sources of medical error, and policy approaches to improve health outcomes. | |||
