Challenges of Nutrition and Overweight for Today's Health Educator
Changing people's behavior regarding nutrition is one of the strongest challenges to health education. With the increasing significance of obesity and overweight to the public health, effective interventions to promote healthy eating are crucial. The speakers in this session will discuss various aspects of nutrition programs and interventions to address the problems of obesity and overweight. Presentations will include discussions of the implications for health education and health promotion practice.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify contributing factors and predictors of overweight and obesity;
  2. Describe interventions designed to promote healthy eating as a strategy to combat obesity; and
  3. Explain the challenges health educators face in delivering effective programs addressing overweight and obesity.
