The focus of the session is to illustrate how innovative, successful public health research can inform and influence public health advocacy approaches, including community outreach and response, to significant public health concerns of targeted Asian American communities. Various research strategies that contribute to advancing advocacy and preventative community health practices will be discussed. | |||
Learning Objectives: 1. Learn how acculturation affects immigrant Asian women's health and health behavior in the U.S. and the public health response to the challenge of acculturation; 2. Understand how to engage participants in advocacy activities related to community violence prevention; and, 3. Discuss the involvement of various Asian American subgroups and professional health associations in research to improve prevention, increase access to care, and promote community health resources. | |||
