Although substantial documentation of healthcare disparities exists for the general public, particularly racial and ethnic minorities, less literature is available documenting disparities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) populations. The presentations in this session will describe available documentation of disparities as well as the application of the principles of cultural competence in the delivery of healthcare for LGBT clients. Speakers will also describe specific interventions, one for smoking cessation and one to develop LGBT youth as organizers for healthy communities. | |||
