Communicating with Patients and the Public
From gauging patients' health literacy to crafting specifically targeted communication materials for a particular audience, health communication professionals need to understand a variety of principles and methods. In this session, presenters will discuss several interventions for communicating with the general public. The panel will also include a discussion of the appropriate use of theater to communicate with young children.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify principles of effective health communication;
  2. Describe health communication interventions targeting various audiences; and
  3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of particular strategies for communicating with children.
