Through a discussion by leading public health law experts of experiences with the SARS outbreak in Toronto, statewide preparedness efforts in Pennsylvania, and legal and ethical analysis, this session, the second of two on Bioterrorism, Emergency Preparedness and the Law coordinated by the Health Law Forum, will help public health workers and lawyers gain greater understanding of the law and ethics-based challenges of coordinating a comprehensive preparedness program for the public health system. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant in this session will be able to: 1. Describe the lessons drawn from SARS response efforts in Toronto and preparedness efforts in Pennsylvania; 2. Discuss the legal principles underlying infectious disease control, including due process concerns arising out of communicable disease containment efforts. | |||
