Senator Kerry's remarks will focus on the need to provide health insurance to the 11 million American children who are currently uninsured and offer innovative options for the underinsured to access health care services. Data has shown that providing health coverage for children improves their health outcomes, as being insured has been shown to improve their access to health care, including preventive and specialty health services. Attendees will learn about the number and demographics of uninsured and underinsured children. Also, an overview will be provided on Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and how these programs can be utilized in new and innovative ways to insure more children. | |||
