Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality for children one year of age and older. This session will examine factors that contribute to this statistic. Motor vehicle crashes, the leading mechanism of injury, will be discussed as well as environmental issues such as, parental supervision and the differences between singleton birth households and multiple birth households.
Learning Objectives: Identify various promotional measures for increasing use of booster seats and analyze strategies that have the strongest evidence of effectiveness. Evaluate of the potential differences in type of injuries between multiples and singletons. Articulate how inhibitory control and supervision relate to injuries.
