Multicultural and other important considerations for breast and cervical cancer screening
There are several important considerations for breast and cervical cancer screening among women in the U.S. and throughout the world, not the least of which is culture and physical disability. This session will feature presentations on breast and/or cervical cancer screening among Vietnamese, Appalachian, Muslim, Native American, and Asian American women. Additionally, this session will include a presentation on breast health services for women with disabilities.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, the participant will be able to (1) discuss the influences of culture on breast and cervical cancer screening; (2) identify strategies for addressing breast health among women with disabilities; and (3) explain the importance of considering cultural, physical, spiritual, and religious influences on cancer screening.
