School Safety and Youth Violence
Violence among youth and in our nation's schools continues to be a significant public health concern. This session will examine factors associated with interpersonal violence, bullying, harassment, and aggression in schools as well as explore solutions for youth violence prevention.
Learning Objectives: Understand gender, social and environmental contexts of verbal, physical and sexual aggression among middle school-aged youth. Discuss intervention strategies based on potential risk and protective factors. Identify activities and effects of a youth violence intervention program and an arts-based dating violence prevention program.
