APHA Film Festival: International Health Session 5 - Harmful Traditional Practices in Kenya
In this session, Director Kim Longinotto’s deeply moving and complex examination of female genital cutting in Jenya, The Day I Will Never Forget (2002; 90 min.), will be screened. The film presents a range of diverse perspectives on a traditional practice which has significant health consequences for girls and women living in the countries where it continues.
Learning Objectives: As a result of attending, participants will have increased knowledge of the topics raised in the films; and will understand the vital role that film and video can play in addressing public health and international health issues.
