The 2nd Annual APHA Film Festival. This session features a selection of films that explore the often controversial influence of politics and economics on health. Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Happiness, by Tiffany Shlain (2002; 14 min.) mixes political and social satire to explore issue of reproductive rights. Little Boy Blue, by Donna Barker (2004; 8 min.), looks at the escalating numbers of children on anti-depressants. Finally, Dying to Leave, by Chris Hilton and Aaron Woolf (2003; 54 min.) focuses on tthe economics of trafficking in women. Followed by Q&A. | |||
Learning Objectives: As a result of attending, participants will have increased knowledge of the topics raised in the films; and will understand the vital role that film and video can play in addressing public health issues. | |||
