Alternative and Complementary Health Practices among Women and Minority Populations
This session will provide the participants with an overview of CAM use among women and various minority populations. Participants will learn how to identify data sources available for analyzing CAM use among racial and ethnic populations and understand the significance of exploring the concept of spirituality and spiritual strategies utilized by African-Americans to promote health. The prevalence and patterns of acupuncture use among among women in the U.S will be reported based on the most current national data.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Describe the use of CAM among women and minority populations 2. Discuss the relationship between spirituality and health in the African-American community 3. Identify the data resources available for analyzing CAM use in racial and ethnic populations.
