Health Access for Vulnerable Populations
This session will identify adolescents, elders, rural men, Mexican immigrants, and African-American women as populations that are at risk for poor health and health risk behaviors. Factors that influence the health and health behaviors of these populations will be examined. Strategies for public health nurses to better the health of these populations will be discussed.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify social, economical, and political factors that affect the health of vulnerable populations. 2. Discuss innovations in decreasing health risk behaviors in vulnerable populations. 3. Identify common health risk behaviors prevalent among vulnerable populations.
