Recruiting Minority Populations into Nursing
This session provides an overview of several strategies that are in place to diversify the nursing population. Recruitment and retention of minority students in nursing schools are discussed. The University of Illinois at Chicago's Career Ladders program, Discover Nursing program, and the Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering program are highlighted.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify strategies to recruit and retain minorities in nursing. 2. Discuss the need for resources to support minorities in professional nursing. 3. Identify internal and external stressors that impede minority retention and progress in professional nursing.
