As program planners and implementers seek more effective ways to reach key targets and beneficiaries of intended health services, the goal becomes one of delivering relevant high quality sustainable services that is client focused, user friendly and meets the consumer on their own terms. Traditional service delivery methods through static service points have often been augmented by the community health worker, i.e. midwives, case workers, health attendants, going to the customer. This customer focus paradigm is based on meeting the customers needs for accessible, affordable and convenient services. The workplace has become an important frontier for the delivery of health services and there has been some very successful experiences from interventions in reproductive health specifically family planning, and more recently through HIV+AIDS interventions. This session seeks to examine and discuss the processes, opportunities, challenges and successes in delivering effective workplace programs in health. These issues will be addressed through presentations on workplace health programs; public/private partnerships in the workplace; business coalitions; and creating commitment, momentum and sustainability for delivery of workplace health programs.
Learning Objectives: It is hoped that the contributions of the presenters will stimulate discussion leading to a more informed paradigm for enhancing the delivery of workplace health programs.
