Public Health Informatics: Competencies, Training and Application
This panel was developed to provide a basic understanding of public health informatics. Starting with a definition and a description of needed competencies, the panel will discuss the application of public health informatics competencies and principles within the practice of public health. Additionally, the panel will provide information on training programs within public health informatics.
Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the field of public health Informatics. 2. Describe activities that develop competency in public health informatics. 3. Explain the importance of public health informatics initiatives to development of local informatics capacity.
