This scientific session, organized and moderated by two past presidents of APHA, will focus on several latebreaking developments in public health and what actions public health workers can take to address these developments.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, attendees will be able to: 1. Identify the public health and social justice issues related to Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath 2. Be able to better address these issues in preparing for future disasters. 3. Understand the essentials of preparing for and responding to disasters from the perspective of public health and social justice.
