“ABC”—“Abstinence, Be Faithful, and Use Condoms”- is the cornerstone of current U.S. domestic and international HIV prevention policy. Although government officials assert that a balanced approach among all three ABC elements is important, only A has received significant attention. Specifically, over the past five years, the government has precipitously increased its support here and abroad for abstinence-only-until-marriage programs, while downplaying the efficacy of condoms for HIV prevention. Join amfAR, SIECUS and the APHA HIV/AIDS Section for a look at the evidence related to ABC and the impact of supporting abstinence-only programs as a public health strategy to prevent HIV/AIDS. | |||
