Gerald L. Stevens, DC , MS, New York Chiropractic College, 4974 Transit Rd., Depew, NY 14043, 716-685-9631, gstevens@nycc.edu and William L. Scheider, PhD, Social and Preventative Medicine, SUNY Buffalo, Farber Hall 268 G, Buffalo, NY 14214.

Objectives: 1) Attempt to identify the behavioral barriers and their resultant delay to seeking chiropractic care. 2) Determine which type of delay is most common in different populations and variables related to this delay. 3) Obtain demographic information on patient populations surveyed. Methods: A short 16 question survey will be administered to all new patients, 18 years of age and older, at the following locations: Salvation Army Tonawanda, Salvation Army Downtown, Lighthouse Free Chiropractic Clinic, University of Buffalo Student Clinic and New York Chiropractic Depew Clinic. These clinics offer a diversity of patient populations to survey the Buffalo area. Populations served by these clinics are seniors (55 or older), ethnic poor, educated students and a clinic that services all populations. Results: Data is currently being gathered in this study. Comparisons will be made between the various populations to determine if any similarities or differences occur between them. Conclusion: To be determined when data analysis is complete.
