Public-health professionals conduct survey research for a variety of reasons i.e., needs assessment, to evaluate services or trainings, to determine necessary interventions, to assess health-related web sites, etc. The uses for surveys are endless, and online surveys are a relatively new way to conduct survey research. Online surveys provide promising opportunities for dealing with many of the prohibitive issues of conducting paper surveys or phone surveys, yet they are not without their limitations and challenges.

Education in online survey research methods is in high demand. Practitioners have recognized the need for sound research methods to be effective in their development and administration of surveys. The practitioners need to be able to reach their target audience within their resource constraints. This presentation will better equip public-health professionals with designing and distributing effective online surveys.
