Annual exploration of injury data issues (Data Roundtable)

This session will continue the tradition of the past decade of APHA meetings during which section members discuss current issues in injury data. Three new dimensions will be added this year: (1) a lead-off presentation of recent developments in state, national and international efforts to improve injury data presented by NCHS and NCIPC leaders, (2) round table facilitators will introduce major issues that will be discussed at each table, and (3) a wrap-up will be conducted by each facilitator culminating in a package of recommendations for the ICEHS leadership to present to APHA leadership or other organizations as appropriate. The following topics will be discussed at length: (1) Mortality data, (2) Hospital data including emergency departments, (3) Emergency medical services (NEMSIS) and trauma care data including trauma registry, and (4) Traffic Safety Data.
