Hospital Quality Reporting: Current challenges and future opportunities

This panel entitled, "Hospital Quality Reporting: Current Challenges and Future Opportunities" presents 3 research papers on the current status of public reporting on hospital quality and one paper discussing the future of hospital quality reporting as seen from the perspective of the hospital industry. The papers present findings from a national survey of physicians, findings from a national survey of hospital quality improvement executives, and findings from qualitative research with consumers and physicians about potential barriers and opportunities for dialogue concerning hospital quality. The discussant will address what can be expected as purchasers explore options for rewarding quality as well as publicly reporting it.
