Innovative Environmental Health Workforce Practices Project
The Environmental Health Workforce Consortium is a group of national non-profit environmental and public health agencies and organizations (APHA, NEHA, NACCHO, ASTHO, AEHAP, NALBOH, CDC, IHS, and others) dedicated to strengthening the environmental health workforce. In 2006, the Consortium initiated the Innovative Environmental Health Workforce Practices Project to identify and disseminate outstanding practices related to the entire continuum of workforce development, including outreach to prospective students, academic preparation, orientation and employment training, continuing education, leadership development, mentoring, and post-retirement contributions. The Consortium developed and distributed a national call for innovative practices from the local, state, tribal, and national level related to workforce development, and selected the outstanding practices based on a set of criteria. The practices of selected recipients will be highlighted, and information will be provided on how to access additional information on innovative practices and how to submit your own organization's practices for consideration in 2007.
