With sample of 94 adults, it was applied four 24 h dietary recall (reference method), at intervals of one month, and a FFQs constituted by 58 food items at the end of the study. The dietary data were analyzed according to differences of means and medians, Pearson's correlation, adjusted by energy and corrected by within-person variance for each income group (lower and higher) determined by the percentile 50th of the data distribution. It was verified that in the 24h dietary recall the intake of all nutrients was inferior for the lower income group (p < 0.05) and for FFQs just protein, calcium and lipid intakes were statistically different in this evaluation, suggesting interference of the income in the dietary intake assessment. Overestimations in the FFQs for vitamin C and retinol in the lower income group and for retinol in the higher one were identified in the analyses of means and medians. However, when evaluated by the correlation and adjusted, they were well correlated among the methods. In contrary, the estimates of lipid, carbohydrate, iron and calcium of the lower income group showed beneath the desirable values, suggesting weak consistence of the estimates provided from the FFQs in these nutrients. The results indicate that FFQ showed acceptable performance to evaluate the habitual food consumption for most of the nutrients. It was obtained tendency for better quantifications in the groups with higher income condition, inferring its influence in the dietary assessment.
