Prisoners of the War on Terror: Public Health in a Post Geneva World?

This panel will discuss the implications of the human rights abuses in United States prisons for changing the health care and public conditions in prisons world wide. Dr. Steven Miles will review medical involvement in interrogations, recording of torture related deaths, and in the oversight and maintenance of medical and sanitation systems. Dr. Michael Grodin will review issues of medical ethics pertaining to force feeding of prisoners on hunger strikes Dr. George Annas will address the matters pertaining to the legitimacy of appeals to the Geneva Conventions, the United Nations Priniciples of Medical Ethics, the Convention Against Torture, and Standard Minimum Rules for Prisons.
